I did something dumb today - I went into work when I wasn't scheduled. I must have looked at Quanetta's schedule because she is listed right above me. Anyway, not a huge deal because one of the other cashiers called in, so they needed me anyway. Extra money is always nice.
I am so excited for Friday. I think I am more excited for that than my actual birthday. I think it's because finally, all the most important people to me are 21 and we can go out together and just have a good time (I.E. Britt, Teetz, JohnRoss, Knappster). I was the first of all of us to turn 21, and while B-Dubs was fun on my 21st (anyone remember Adam having to hold me on the stool so I didn't topple over? Yeah, I don't, I just heard about it the next morning), now we can all can partake. The only downside is Adam not being here, and he missed the last one too because he was in Mississippi training. At least Silas and Mike will be around for it, so it'll be like old times for the most part, and of course we'll send Adam the pictures, although I don't know if that makes him feel better or worse, seeing us having fun without him, know what I mean? But good times will be had once again, he is on leave in March or April, hopefully in March because it would be wicked if he could be home for his birthday.
I played "Must Be Doing Something Right" by Billy Currington for Drake to see what he thought about it. I love the chorus, but I think the verses are way too sexual for it to be our first dance, and he agreed. Plus he is not a big country fan and this definitely has some twang to it. And we've got a while to find a song, it's not like we're getting hitched tomorrow, but given the fact that our musical tastes are so different, I think finding a song will be one of the biggest battles. I still like "Bless the Broken Road" but he nixed that one too. Argh. Ah well, I will find one, there must be a first dance. And what am I supposed to do about the father/daughter dance? I can't exactly dance with mom, that would look silly, I could dance with Grandpa, I think that would be okay. Anyone know what the wedding etiquette is on that? Oh well, I never do anything else like a normal person would, there's no reason my wedding should be any different from the rest of my life.
Aside from birthday, nothing major happening. SVU is new so Teetz and I have to watch it tomorrow night, can't wait, lots of fun.

Deep South Is Not My Idea Of A Good Time
Reasons I Do Not Want To Go To Alabama After Graduation:
1. It's hot
2. I mean, really hot
3. You don't understand how much I hate hot weather
4. I'm not a fan of humidity either
Reasons Why I Will Go To Alabama After Graduation
1. Drake will (possibly) be there
I know, this is news to me too. Apparently the University of Alabama has one of the top creative writing programs in the nation and right now Drake's advisor is really gung-ho about him applying. If he gets in, it would be a pretty sweet deal, basically they would end up paying him to go to school. The problem with this however, is that teachers do not make the big bucks in the south, unless they're in Texas because Texas needs teachers desperately. You see, it is us educated folk like us teachers who realize what a complete and utter idiot Bush is and we refuse to step foot in such a state that could produce a sub-par human being such as our *wonderful* president. (Is the sarcasm dripping enough for you?) I have my sights set on Alaska right now for many reasons, among them being selfish and monetary ones, but if I am able to teach then hurray for me. I just do not want to teach anywhere I will not have at least some resources to best equip my children to handle the future. However, impending engagements (1+ year can be considered 'impending'. We both know it is going to happen) pretty much all but cements the fact that we will be living together in the near-future. And since 'living together' requires those doing so to be in the same state, city, and dwelling, I will probably be in Alabama by this time next year. As long as the Lady Katherine is on my finger though, I probably won't mind ;) (Okay, so mostly I wasn't serious about the Lady Katherine because she is big bucks and we're both poor, but she sure is pretty). In all seriousness though, Alabama is just an option, nothing is set in stone yet. There are other colleges and universities he is considering as well, and there are many states I am looking at to teach in. Something else we also have to consider is where I will go to grad school, because the schools of my choice are not incredibly flexible either because of course we both want to go to the places that have the best programs possible. For me, this would be U of Illinois, especially for SpEd. UNL also has a great SpEd program though. I don't really want to be that far away from Drake but if our places don't mesh then we might not have much choice.
